Religion Cult

This guild is in charge of maintaining all functioning churches throughout the city, from the small chapels in the slums to the grand cathedral of Bahamut located in the Wealthy District. The guild encompasses all of the major deities and most clergy members are very accepting of those who worship members of the pantheon different from them. They are less tolerant of people who worship deities outside their established pantheon. The clergy try not to get too involved in the politics of the city, though their representative usually acts as the mediator when there are arguments in the council chamber. The leader of the guild is known as the Pope. The current Pope is Pope Alexander VII, a devout worshiper of the entire pantheon, though he began his career as a priest for the deity Alexander.

Duties: Dues are called tithes and an amount equal to 5 GP per character level per month. Members are expected to adhere to the tenets of their faith. In addition, members that are assigned to research religious lore are expected to give reports on their work every month along with their tithes. Any member assigned a particular duty (ie preaching or researching) must spend 1d4 days per week (4 hours/day) performing that duty.

Member Benefits: Clergy who are members of the guild can expect lodging and safe haven at any ordained chapel within the city.

Favored Benefits: The member’s faith and understanding of her fellows is boosted by association with others who share her belief and purpose. She gains a +1 bonus on Diplomacy and Gather Information checks made when dealing with any follower of her religion, regardless of guild affiliation. She also gains a +2 bonus on Will saves that would cause her to act against her religion.
